SCE’s temporary environment created at the request of First Lady Michelle Obama for her Fashion Education Workshop debuted on October 8 and it has already garnered attention from the national press. This event sought to encourage young people to pursue careers in fashion, and in her inspiring remarks Mrs. Obama stressed the critical role of fashion in the national economy, stating: “Fashion is about so much more than just a pretty pair of pumps or the perfect hemline. For so many people across the country, it is a calling, it is a career, and it’s a way they feed their families.” A transcript of the First Lady’s speech can be found here.
