As a follow up to November’s Luminous Talks 3: The Changing Room symposium in New York, three graduate students have written and narrated a webinar, identifying and further exploring many of the themes brought up in the live event. All three students – Sophia Mitchell, Lee Anne Shaffer, and Kiersten Hill, are double major students, enrolled in both the MFA Interior Design and MFA Lighting Design programs. Working together, they researched and narrated the 30 minute video, elaborating on the role of light in establishing a sense of time and place, the importance of light to physical health, and the dynamic potential of environments in which both natural and artificial forms of light activate interior space.
Luminous Talks is a collaboration between Parsons The New School for Design and Philips, started in 2012. Luminous Talks brings together architects, lighting designers, academics, industry leaders and others to discuss innovations and current topics in the lighting design industry.
