The Interior Design Educators Council, IDEC, Annual Conference will be held in New York City, March 2 to 4th, 2022. The Reconnect, Recalibrate 2022 conference will focus on systems thinking, diversity, equity, and inclusion. Hosting “300-400 members, educators, practitioners, and graduate students…the Annual Conference provides opportunities for dissemination of research related to the areas of design, teaching, and learning, as well as creative scholarship.“ Registration opens in January 2022.
This Fall 2021, many SCE Interior Design faculty participated in the IDEC Innovative Teaching Ideas and the NYSID Teaching Green hybrid international symposium. Nadia Elrokhsy, Associate Professor of Ecological Design, and Yu Nong Khew, Assistant Professor of Interior Design, were selected as winners to “present and celebrate exemplary interior design teaching ideas……in which sustainability is the key component.” In addition, the symposium included a panel of students from universities across the country to reflect on their sustainable design learning experiences, and SP’22 BFA in Interior Design degree candidate Sabrina Valdes represented Parsons, School of Constructed Environments.
