The studio entitled Lo Cal City is using the city of Albany, and its counterpart to the south, as a locale within which to investigate key current architectural and urban issues.  The studio is working closely with the Albany Department of City Planning to develop proposals that will be highlighted in the city’s Comprehensive Plan.

Students presented their initial site and urban research to the director of City Planning and will conduct a series of presentations at the end of the semester at Parsons and in Albany.

The studio is led by Stella Betts of LEVENBETTS and Astrid Lipka of Lyn Rice Architects.  Secondary critics in the studio are Paul Goldberger, Reid Freeman, David Leven and Mark Rakatansky.
