Andy Bernheimer of the School of Constructed environments will be jurying the Little Free Libraries/New York Project. The project is being sponsored by the PEN World Voices Festival and the Architectural League of New York.
This competition will award ten design teams with $1000 to design and create small-scale libraries to house books. These libraries will be installed into public spaces where people can take a book or leave a book, creating an informal exchange of words and ideas. The ten winning book shelters will be presented during the 2013 IDEAS CITY festival in May.
The Little Free Libraries movement was created to promote literacy and the importance of reading through many communities throughout the world.
