Lighting Design Student, Nayoun Ryu, Featured in Headhi Lamp Show

Head Hi, a hybrid space dedicated to books, art, design, conversation and coffee near the Brooklyn Navy Yard, is thrilled to announce the artist list and details for the 4th Annual Head Hi Lamp Show. This year’s edition, which will feature over 50 and designers, will be the first in HeadHi’s new 1,400 square foot space on the corner of Flushing and Vanderbilt Avenues across from the Brooklyn Navy Yard.

This Head Hi tradition invites artists, designers, collectors, and craftspeople of all levels via an international open call. The Lamp Show, a beloved community event that welcomes hundreds of visitors each year, has now featured 227 artists and designers from around the world since its first edition in 2019. The unique lamps that were selected for this year’s edition reflect a diverse range of backgrounds, skill levels, price ranges, concepts and materials – all of which celebrate design, experimentation and collective participation. For the occasion, Head Hi has curated a selection of publications on the topic of light and design to browse and purchase.

“I Light”

Nayoun Ryu pushes the boundaries of light as a verb. She lights the living moment of natural materials opening up a viewer’s relationship to everyday objects. She strongly believes that the warmth of light can evoke stories, emotions and refreshes people’s perspective.
