LEVENBETTS Selected as AIA NY Firm of the Year

Congratulations to David Leven, Parsons Associate Professor of Architecture, and Stella Betts whose architectural practice, LEVENBETTS, has been recognized as the 2020 AIA NY State Firm of the Year.

LEVENBETTS  is an award winning New York City based architecture practice founded by David Leven and Stella Betts in 1997. The practice focuses on design at a range of scales including urban design, public architecture, houses and housing, commercial workspaces, exhibitions and furniture.  Currently focusing on civic and institutional spaces of learning, architecture in the public realm and single-family houses, LEVENBETTS creates precisely detailed yet informal buildings that actualize the modern project of openness, light and abstraction. Both David and Stella have approached architecture from their fine arts backgrounds, direct an office in the Chelsea arts district in Manhattan and believe in the power of visual culture and ways of seeing and thinking through esthetic practices.

LEVENBETTS work has been recognized nationally and internationally through awards, exhibitions and publications. The office has won eleven New York City AIA awards, a series of other recognitions and is currently working on its fifth New York City public library, a 300,000 square foot Life Sciences Laboratory Building, a museum exhibition for a house prototype and a series of pavilions and residential projects.
