Zeynep Turan (Ph.D. in Environmental Psychology, The CUNY Graduate Center; MA in Architectural History and Theory, AA School of Architecture) is postdoctoral research fellow at the Middle East and Middle Eastern American Center at the CUNY Graduate Center. Her research interests range from the meaning of place and of material environments, to issues of memory, identity, and culture. Her most recent publications have appeared in Home Cultures: Journal of Architecture, Design, and Domestic Space (March 2010) and in Global Memoryscapes: Contesting Remembrance in a Transnational Age, eds. Kendall R. Phillips and Mitchell R. Reyes (University of Alabama Press, 2011). She has taught architectural design, environmental psychology, and urban studies in New York City and Ankara.
