The exhibition “Destiempo: Dynamogram, Puerto Casado” is the result of a design and art residency with five renown Paraguayan artists and two Parsons students, Isabel Saffon and Elena Habre. Research took place in June of 2016 in the Paraguayan Chaco, an area currently under threat of deforestation. The works displayed in the exhibition tell the history of the one hundred years of a tannin [a substance processed by reducing wood into pieces and then boiling it in water and used to cure leather] factory in Puerto Casado through an interdisciplinary lens, bringing to light the contradictions and connections with global history.
The exhibition will open Friday, March 3, 2017
