Craig Bernecker, Ph.D., FIES, Associate Professor of Lighting Design, was presented the Illuminating Engineering Society’s Distinguished Service Award at the IES Annual Conference on August 12, 2017.  The IES Distinguished Service Award is presented in recognition of continuous dedicated service to the Society, “having significantly furthered the purpose for which the Society was founded, and continued over a number of years in various programs and activities at, typically, regional and international levels. The Distinguished Service Award was established in 1967.”  Dr. Bernecker has served the IES as Vice-President of Technical Activities (1991-93), Vice-President of Educational Activities (1993-95), and Senior Vice President, President, and Immediate Past President (2003-2006), as well as having been a member and chaired multiple technical and education committees of the society, as well as representing the society to other organizations.
