Peter Matthiessen Wheelwright’s first novel, As It Is On Earth, is the story of two brothers, haunted by their colorful past while thoroughly engaged in the painful now, as they ramble the earth from New England to Mexico. Wheelwright is an architect and associate professor at Parsons. His foray into the fictive environment from the built environment has received critical attention. The panel, will include Peter, Joseph Salvatore, Professor of Writing, The New School for Public Engagement who has taught writing to design students at Parsons recently published his own book, and Susan Szenasy, Editor in Chief Metropolis Magazine.
The panel will discuss the phenomenon of designers writing. Do they write differently? How do the point of view, the tools and the palettes of the space designer behave differently in the terrain of literature?
