In conjunction with its 50th anniversary this year, modular furniture company USM Haller has sponsored a series of master classes, called Project 50: Rethink the Modular, with faculty and students from seven top designs schools from around the world. SCE professor and artist Allan Wexler led a group of 9 former and current interior design and product design students at Domaine du Boisbuchet, the art and design residency center in Lessac, France. The project is featured in the architecture and design blog, Architizer.
Wexler and his students constructed their project around the concept of the book as modular. As Wexler explained, “The book is a module that contains individual experiences, cultures, stories, and so forth, including fiction and non-fiction.”
