As part of the Interior Design Junior Studio 4 “Re-Designing Learning Environments”, students participated in a ‘build day’ at PS 191, The Museum Magnet School, on West 61st Street and Amsterdam Avenue on the Upper West Side. Based on a design developed by student Briana Edwards and managed by student Ernesto Vargas, students executed five large murals, one at each of the entries to the school. Students were assisted by volunteers from New York Cares and the community for the one-day event. The mural was the result of an ‘identity’ project with which the studio began its collaboration with District 3- 8 public schools; students are now re-imagining a series of interior spaces. In collaboration with the Parsons REAL Lab, coordinated at SCE by Emily Moss and Alison Mears.
