Call for Proposals: Architecture and Design Students

Attention all Architecture and Design students the Vera List Center for Art and Politics needs your help!

Launched in 2017, the reading room has traveled to art spaces and museums around the world, and is presented at The New School’s Social Justice Hub from April 1 to May 23, 2023 by the Vera List Center for Art and Politics in collaboration with C& Center of Unfinished Business. The exhibition is host to public programs, including a reading series that inscribes the Center’s 2022-2023 Focus Theme Correction* into colonial legacies and postcolonial realties where it will feature titles from the VLC Fellows Library as well as by TNS faculty and alumni.

The Vera List Center invites students to propose designs for the C& Center of Unfinished Business at The New School. Proposals should respond to and incorporate the existing design and uses of the Social Justice Hub; repurpose furniture and materials available at The New School for both furnishing and fabrication; provide shelving or other display case for up to 150 books; and creatively introduce friction and discomfort in the final design and experience.

The deadline for initial idea submission is February 20th, 2023.

The winner of the design proposal will receive $750 in prize money and a $1200 budget for manual labor and materials.
