“Ziggy”, this year’s winning installation for the annual Flatiron Public Plaza Holiday Design Competition, is about to open to the public on Monday, November 18th. The project was created by NYC-based design and architectural studio Hou de Sousa, co-founded by Nancy Hou and Joshua de Sousa, Parsons architecture Faculty. Through its vibrant hues and playful design, “Ziggy” will become a visible landmark at the heart of the Flatiron District. The team used painted rebar and 27,000 feet of iridescent cord to deliver a shifting, polyvalent, kaleidoscopic and engaging public installation.
