SCE faculty member, Andreas Benzing, helps support the Mayor’s new energy mandates.

Part time SCE’s faculty, Andreas Benzing, who teaches in both Undergraduate and Graduate Programs, was present to support the Mayor’s efforts and announcement about energy efficiency for NYC buildings. The new mandates which “will compel [building] owners to meet fossil fuel caps– requiring deeper upgrades to boilers, water heaters, roofs, and windows on an accelerated 2030 timeflame–with sharp penalties for failure to comply,” will make NYC the first city to have policies that require existing buildings to dramatically cut greenhouse gas emissions.

Andreas is the founding member of A.M.Benzing architects PLLC and the President of NY Passive House (NYPH). He has been a long-time advocate for a healthy, comfortable, and energy-efficient built environment. His organization, NYPH, has been actively engaged with Community Boards throughout Manhattan to promote the Passive House standard which helps inform the Mayor’s new energy mandates.
