Ecovative is a leading biomaterials company growing high performance, premium, award-winning products that are safe, healthy, and certified sustainable. Since 2007 the New York based company manufactures, and markets low embodied energy, compostable, material that is literally grown into any custom shape and competes with plastics in some markets, both in performance and cost.

The self assembling bonds formed by mycelium, produce this material as it grows around a substrate of regionally sourced agricultural byproducts. These bio-waste products are “glued” together by this fungal mycelium into any shape in less than a week in an indoor low-energy process, and the final material is home compostable.
