The presentation given by Jachna will sketch out some possible elements of a second-order cybernetic perspective on the city and demonstrate some consequences and applications of this way of seeing. Drawing primarily on the concept of the conversation, as articulated by Gordon Pask and elaborated by others.
Tim Jachna is a Hong Kong-based educator, architect, and urbanist. He holds degrees from the University of Illinois at Chicago (BArch), the Architectural Association in London (AADipl) and RMIT University in Melbourne (PhD). Jachna has worked as a practicing architect and urban designer. Currently, Jachna is Professor and Associate Dean (Research) of the School of Design, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He leads the School’s Urban Environments Lab and the Master of Design (MDes) programme in Urban Environments Design.
