Building Product Ecosystems is a collaboration initiated by The Durst Organization, in partnership with The New School and the City University of New York, to optimize the health of construction product ecosystems through material research and innovation, process improvements, policy/code evolution, and accessible education.

Video of the inaugural event, Launching a Framework for Success, held on September 17, is now available.  The evening featured presentations from Dr. Philip Landrigan, Dean for Global Health, Ethel H. Wise Professor and Chairman, Department of Preventive Medicine; Professor of Pediatrics; Director, Children’s Environmental health Center, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai; Dr. John Warner, President, Warner Babcock Institute for Green Chemistry, and Co-Founder and President, Beyond Benign Green Chemistry Education; Gavin McIntyre, Co-Founder and Chief Scientist of Ecovative Design, and leaders from The Durst Organization, The New School, and CUNY,

The ongoing Building Product Ecosystems effort focuses on multidisciplinary implementation of opportunities for healthier building products within material supply and handling streams with minimized negative externalities. Working Groups and Academic Focus Areas address the following important subjects, each of which involves an inquiry into strategies for reducing human exposures from hazardous chemicals in building products – including but not limited to: Heavy metals, Carcinogens, Asthmagens, Endocrine disruptors. More information about Building Product Ecosystems can be found here.
