The Faculty Works in Progress lecture series invites faculty from the School of Constructed Environments to discuss current projects emerging from their personal practices. FWIP encourages forthright discussions of all aspects of a project, both challenging and successful. This semester we present Luben Dimcheff, SCE Faculty member and Principal at Dimcheff Smith Studio, and Andrew Dahlgren, SCE Faculty member and Founder of ADMK.

Principal, Dimcheff Smith Studio

Reflections
Luben Dimcheff is a pricipal at Dimcheff Smith Studio, an architecture and design practice based in New York City. He currently oversees design work in New York, Mumbai and Rio de Janeiro. Prior to establishing his practice he was a senior associate at Smith-Miller + Hawkinson Architects. In addition to his practice, Luben is dedicated to academic work and teaches at Parsons, SCE and was most recently a Visiting Critic at Cornell AAP, where he taught a Comprehensive Design M.Arch Studio, Introduction to Architecture and has led advanced seminars on Visual Representation

 

Andrew Dahlgren
Founder, ADMK

Knitting Together Industry and Community
Andrew Dahlgren’s work explores the social, cultural, and economic impacts of manufacturing and production. Under the title ADMK (Andrew Dahlgren Machine Knitting) he has developed his own professional practice, focusing on collaborations with fashion designers, industrial designers, and architects. Currently, Dahlgren’s ADMK Knit Lab is exploring the potentials of community supported manufacturing and testing ideas to further understand the similarities between industry and community.
