Hirofumi Orihara, a current AAS Interior Design student, is the winner of the Hospitality Design  Student Category Award, 2013.  His project, The Nature, is of a new hotel typology and was conceived in ID3 Studio , taught by Douglas Grieco.  The aim of the studio was to create new hotel brands for the coming decades and then represent those brands in hotel designs. Hiro’s project focused on the notion of a synthetic nature and used W Union Square as the project’s site.  Orihara attempted to re-think programs for circulation, lobby, restaurant, and guestroom.
