Each year the International Association of Lighting Designers generously offers travel stipends to conferences and scholarships to students studying lighting design.  These globally based scholarships are highly competitive and based upon student submissions of work, statement letters and letters of recommendation.  This year, as with most years, Parsons students were awarded a substantial number of these financial gifts, evidencing the outstanding quality of their work.  More specifically, Parsons students received 3 of the 10 travel stipends awarded and 3 of the 5 scholarships awarded.  Student award recipients Yuliya Savelyeva and Edward Yelonek attended the awards banquet in Las Veges during Lightfair in May, 2012.  Award recipient announcements are listed in the IALD Reflections newsletter available at the following link http://www.iald.org/about/eReflections/issue.asp?ID=144#S1327
