The Architect’s Newspaper reports on SCE Temporary Environments studio

Students from 5 programs participate in Moorhead & Moorhead’s course to create a soft structure from Carnegie’s Xorel

Carnegie invented a cradle-to-cradle certified fabric XOREL that has been the subject of investigation for students in the Temporary Environments studio. The course is led by Moorhead & Moorhead, a design firm known for its experimentation with common materials to make extraordinary projects ranging in scale from furniture and buildings.

Students were asked to explore folding, filling or weaving XOREL fabric. Bolts were provided in endless amounts by Carnegie. The explorations were in preparation for an installation opening at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair next week. The final design is now in production by the students.
