Nicholas de Monchaux and Angelo Vermeulen, awarded joint Michael Kalil Fellows for 2012, will discuss the cultural intersections of nature and technology thru references to their work. Also this evening the three $5000 project grants that the Michael Kalil Endowment for Smart Design supports will be awarded.
Nicholas de Monchaux is an architect and urbanist whose work examines the intersections of nature, technology and the city.

Angelo Vermeulen is a visual artist, filmmaker, and biologist. His research in ecology, environmental pollution and teratology informs his art, which includes bio installations, experimental setups incorporating living organisms and science fiction references.
