SCE Students Create White House Holiday Ornaments

IMG_6431

In October, SCE students across all programs created a stunning temporary environment for Michelle Obama’s first Fashion Education Workshop. Students cut and folded thousands of pages from recycled books to create a large backdrop for the First Lady’s speech, as well as centerpieces and other elements for each table. The White House asked for six holiday ornaments using the same materials and techniques. These ornaments will be part of this year’s 2014 White House holiday decorations. The participating students were Sofia Burlo (AAS Interior Design), Calvin Cheng (BFA Interior Design), Amanda Evengard (BFA Product Design) and Laura Suppan (MFA Interior Design). They were led by Helen Quinn with Jonsara Ruth and Alison Mears, each of whom also directed the October installation.
