Archinect Talks to Tommy Yang about his Thesis, Role of Narratives, and Practice Amidst Pandemic

Parsons M.Arch graduate of the 2020 class Tommy Yang has recently talked to Archinect about his thesis work, the  role of narratives in constructing our built environments and collective being, and his experience in transitioning to remote learning during the pandemic. Tommy’s thesis project is the recipient of the Alpha Ro Chi Medal 2020 for Design Excellence and NYCxDESIGN Architecture Graduates Showcase. Titled “The Nuanced-Topia: Insurgent Frameworks for Storytelling”, his research unpack the city’s transportation nodes as “an assembly that hinges on spaces of opportunities”, a fable interlaced with physical artifacts that enable our daily operations.

This fall, Tommy is re-joining the Parsons SCE community as a part-time faculty teaching architectural representation. The full interview and excerpts from his graduate work are available here.
