Upside Down, Inside Out and Breathing

October 5, 2011, 2pm in the 2nd Floor Studios West Wall Pinup Area

Visiting architect, Merritt Bucholz of the award winning Dublin based firm, Bucholz McEvoy, engaged in a conversation with SCE’s David Lewis about facades.  In this discussion ideas of the facade will were scrutinized in terms of geometry, proportion, form, environment, procurement, (shop drawings), mock-ups, fabrication, and the demands of environmental performance, all as competing aspects of any facade.  The facade is also understood as part of a continuos biosphere that can be evaluated aesthetically  and that is by its nature ‘facing both ways’, inside / outside.
