The Lighting Design program was the 2009 host to the annual Architectural Lighting Magazine’s International Light and Architecture Design Awards. The A|L event consists of a roundtable discussion featuring lighting designers from around the world, and presentation of the lighting design awards for excellence in lighting design. The evening is moderated by MFA LD faculty Derek Porter.
After the ceremony, MFA Lighting Design students invite the awardees for a celebratory dinner held in the School’s studios. Lighting students conceive, design, specify, and build the event space for the A|L dinner, which naturally focuses on the power of light as a lubricant for social interaction.
