MFA Industrial Design Student on The New York Times

Not limited to the School of Fashion, reducing waste in fashion is also one of the topics that SCE faculty and students have been exploring. They look at various ways to utilize unsold or worn fabric into useful furnishings. Shanya Lewis, a graduate student in industrial design, partnered with The New Denim Project to use recycled fabric as upholstery for a dining chair proposal. In her thesis project in spring semester, Lewis continues to transform fibers into tableware and furniture.

This trend is captured in the curated exhibition named “Waste No More” at the International Furniture Fair in Milan. You can read more here!
