Mark Rakatansky to Speak on Soane and Piranesi at Morgan Library

SCE faculty member Mark Rakatansky will give a lecture at the Morgan Library on March 19 at 6:30 pm. Titled, “His conduct is mischevious”: Piranesi and Soane, the lecture will explore the complex relationship of the British architect John Soane and the Italian architect and designer Giovanni Battista Piranesi, and the unsettling “mischievous” engagements of their architecture, drawings, and writings.

This lecture is cosponsored by Sir John Soane’s Museum Foundation and is presented in conjunction with the exhibition Piranesi and the Temples of Paestum: Drawingsfrom Sir John Soane’s Museum, on view at the Morgan Library until May 17, 2015. Purchase tickets here.
