Lighting student named finalist in the Targetti Light Awards

Antonia Peon-Veiga Petric, second year MFA Lighting Design Student from Santiago, Chile, is a finalist in the Targetti Light Awards Competition, a semi-annual competition sponsored by the Targetti Foundation where a work of art surrounding the specific topic of light is commissioned. This year’s topic is to use electric light as a tribute to Futurism. Antonia’s piece titled “Facing the Technique”, one of six finalists out of 867 submissions, celebrates the beauty of artificial light. The structural and technological details of the light source (something which we usually do not see) are projected and magnified by a series of lenses. Once they are decontextualized the filaments of the halogen lamps and the components of the RGB LEDs become fascinating abstract shapes.
