Design Competition for the New York City AIDS Memorial Park Campaign

The competition is open to all individuals and firms, regardless of experience. The project submission deadline is January 21st, 2012 and will be judged by an acclaimed jury chaired by Michael Arad, Designer of the National September 11 Memorial. The site is adjacent to St. Vincent’s Hospital, epicenter of the AIDS epidemic in New York City, just two blocks from The New School.

The New York City AIDS Memorial Park Campaign is a coalition of individuals and organizations dedicated to the recognition and preservation of the ongoing history of the AIDS crisis. In the 30th year of the epidemic, they seek to honor the more than 100,000 New York City men, women and children who have died from AIDS, and to commemorate and celebrate the efforts of the caregivers and activists who responded heroically to the crisis.
