Design Build
In spring 2016, undergraduate students from The New School’s Parsons School of Design, Eugene Lang College, and Schools of Public Engagement collaborated with the NYC DOT on the City’s Street Seats initiative as part of the “Design Build” course.
The Design Challenge: to create an innovative and inviting public seating area that reflects The New School’s ethos in a 40ft x 6ft space on the corner of 13th Street and 5th Avenue, while reclaiming portions of New York City’s streets for much needed public space.
