Cities and Refugees: 2019 Global Competition

Hosted by the Rapid Urbanization Grand Challenge at UNSW (Sydney), this global design ideas competition invites students to design a physical intervention or a series of interventions that meaningfully improves the lives of refugees in the city, in the short, medium and/or long term.

The interventions can be in any city anywhere in the world, consider both formal and informal sectors, and be designed at different scales. In addition, design interventions must take into consideration social engagement, integration, livelihoods, governance and other ‘non-physical’ issues.
