Charles McKinney and Stephanie Cramer to Give AIA Workshop

Charles McKinney, Principle Designer for the New York City Parks Department, and SCE faculty member Stephanie Cramer will present Architecture Students Design/Build/Learn at the AIA Convention in Atlanta on May 16. The workshop will discuss how students from the Parsons Design Workshop collaborated with the New York City Parks Department on Splash House, a multi-year project to make major improvements to the Highbridge Recreation Center in the Washington Heights neighborhood of Manhattan. Topics will include challenges encountered along the way, and how the process led to an improved public realm, imaginative solutions, an enhanced skill set for young professionals, and more cross-disciplinary partnerships.

Throughout the session, attendants will be asked to participate with quick feedback responses based on key topics.

The workshop takes place Saturday, May 16 from 8:30 – 9:30 am at in Room B406 of the Georgia Conference Center.
