Julian von der Schulenburg, SCE faculty and owner of the architectural practice VON, has won the international design competition in Munich, Germany, for a new cultural art center inside two historically preserved, industrial hangar buildings, called the ‘Tonnenviertel’.

AAS Interior Design Alum, Alejandro Barrios-Carrera, recently won the James Beard Foundation 2013 Outstanding Restaurant Design Award for restaurants with 67 seats or over.

Andrew Bernheimer of Bernheimer Architecture and Director of the Masters of Architecture program received an Interiors Merit Award for MALIN+GOETZ, a project in Los Angeles. SCE Faculty Members Emily Abruzzo and Gerald Bodziak of Abruzzo Bodziak Architects received a Project Merit Award for their project entitled Landscape (Triptych) in New York, NY.

NY IIDA celebrates AAS ID student, Hirofumi Orihara, with their top prize, ‘The Juror’s Award’. AAS Interior Design student, Hirofumi Orihara, is the winner of the Hospitality Design Student Category Award, 2013. His project, The Nature, is of a new hotel typology and was conceived in Studio ID3, taught by Douglas Grieco.
