Susan Szenasy, Editor in Chief of Metropolis Magazine, used her Editor’s Notes (April 2013 issue) to tell about the 2013 Aftertaste Symposium’s focus on our relationship to objects. The symposium, subtitled “The Atmosphere of Objects” explored many ways that everyday things influence the way we live.

Cool Hunting recently featured a tour of Daniel Michalik’s Brooklyn Studio. Michalik recently collaborated with illustrator and designer Mark McGinnis to create hand-printed packaging solutions for Michalik’s Contraband boats, released this year.

Three SCE faculty members, Alfred Zollinger, Mark Rakatansky and Aaron White, created little free library designs that will be included and installed for the IDEAS CITY Street Festival, taking place on Saturday, May 4, 2013.

The GreenSource Magazine of Sustainable Design recently ran an article naming Empowerhouse to be one of the “Best Green Houses”. In 2011, students from Parsons School of Constructed Environments, Milano School of International Affairs, Management and Urban Policy at the New School, and the Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey worked on a project called Empowerhouse, a sustainable design for a two-family home.

Ruth Shuman, president and founder of Publicolor, gave a lecture to SCE students last Friday, April 5, 2013.

WantedDesign is hosting a three-day workshop in which Parsons students work with students from other design schools in Pasadena, Paris and Mexico City to develop innovative products that address the growing population’s impact on our water supply in dense, urban areas.
