Susan Szenasy, Editor in Chief of Metropolis Magazine, used her Editor’s Notes (April 2013 issue) to tell about the 2013 Aftertaste Symposium’s focus on our relationship to objects. The symposium, subtitled “The Atmosphere of Objects” explored many ways that everyday things influence the way we live.

The GreenSource Magazine of Sustainable Design recently ran an article naming Empowerhouse to be one of the “Best Green Houses”. In 2011, students from Parsons School of Constructed Environments, Milano School of International Affairs, Management and Urban Policy at the New School, and the Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey worked on a project called Empowerhouse, a sustainable design for a two-family home.

WantedDesign is hosting a three-day workshop in which Parsons students work with students from other design schools in Pasadena, Paris and Mexico City to develop innovative products that address the growing population’s impact on our water supply in dense, urban areas.

The Living Arts City Colloquium is a two-day event on April 6 and 7 that will bring together artists, performers, curators, arts managers, scholars and students in a series of facilitated workshops and discussions on how to make the arts central to a sustainable future in Cambodia, in the face of rapid growth and urban development.
